After Utrecht Masters, the best 3×3 basketball players are continuing their read in the city of Cebu in the Philippines. They are ready for the next station in the World Tour 2022 and come with high enthusiasm. We are slowly approaching the culmination of this extremely exciting season. Let’s briefly preview the upcoming Cebu Masters.
Twelve teams will participate in the main tournament in competition in the Philippines. We will see four groups of three teams there. One member of group D will be determined in the qualifications draw on October 1 between Doha, Ludhiana, and Manila.
Group stage games will be played on the same date. It is scheduled for 12 clashes to be played in pools A, B, C, and D. First-placed and second-placed teams in each group will progress to the best 8.
Antwerp, Omaha, and Cebu will be members of group A.
Riga, Sansar, and Utsunomiya will compete in pool B.
Amsterdam, Jeddah, and Saitama will take part in group C.
Ulaanbaatar, Lausanne, and a team from qualifications draw will battle for a place in Final 8 in pool D.
Quarterfinals, semifinals, and final game are scheduled to be played on October 2, 2022.
Antwerp finally broke the curse after winning Debrecen Masters in an excellent style. Thibaut Vervoort, their giant star, was literally on fire during the tournament in Hungary. Thibaut is returning to their squad after a short absence. The Belgian team is the No.1 seed in the competition and the main favorite in group A.
Riga is expected to shine in group B. Return of Karlis Lasmanis from Big3 and his MVP performance in Montreal Masters are promising good result for the Latvian team. Karlis aka “Batman” and Nauris Miezis aka “Robin” are a powerful Riga duo and we are looking forward to seeing them together again.
Amsterdam, seed No.3, was eliminated in the quarterfinal of Utrecht Masters. It was the first time in the World Tour 2022 that the Dutch team didn’t qualify for the semifinal in the biggest FIBA 3×3 team tournaments. Amsterdam will try to repair the situation with their main player Dimeo van der Horst.
