Omaha 3BALL is a champion of Quebec Challenger. That is the outcome of a competition where 18 team participated during two days. We saw good and quality fixtures and Quebec Challenger confirmed that 3×3 basketball is played everywhere in the world. So let’s move slowly through the tournament.
Montreal and Lidingö City progressed to the main competition from first qualification pool A. Old Montreal and Washington DC got a ticket for the final tournament from the second qualification pool.
Saturday was reserved for group stage games.
Riga and Omaha 3BALL made it to final 8 through group A. Princeton and Versailles progressed from pool B to the quarterfinals. Washington DC and Marijampole were first-placed and second-placed teams respectively in group C. Warsaw and Chicago qualified for the Final 8 from pool D.
Quarterfinals, semifinals and final game were played on Sunday.
Omaha 3BALL beat Marijampole with 20-18 in the first quarterfinal. Warsaw pulled out a 20-15 victory over Versailles. Princeton defeated Chicago with 20-15. Riga won against Washington DC with 21-16.
Omaha 3BALL won against Warsaw with 21-18 in the first semifinal battle. Riga beat Princeton with 18-15.
The final game was held between USA’s club Omaha 3Ball and Latvian team Riga. Omaha 3Ball started furiously and had a 9-2 advantage. Nauris Miezis and Edgars Krumins from Riga scored 6 points in a row and reduce the deficit. The Latvian team got a 16-11 lead.
Malik Hluchoweckyj, Omaha’s star, started scoring. Suddenly, the result was tied – 17-17 one minute before the end of the game. Omaha had a 20-19 advantage when Dylan Travis scored from a free throw and gave USA team the title. Omaha defeated Riga with 21-19.

An interesting fact about the Quebec Challenger is that only two of the top four seeds participated in the semifinal. Nauris Miezis was the top scorer of the tournament with 39 points. Malik Huchoweckyj was appointed as MVP of the competition.
Omaha 3BALL and Riga qualified for the Cebu Masters on October 1-2, 2022. Teams that already have a ticket for the Philippines are Antwerp, Amsterdam, Jeddah, Lausanne, Utsunomiya, Doha, and Ludhiana.
