Ninth Masters in the World Tour 2022 is behind us. The season is slowly coming to an end. An exciting weekend in the capital of France brought us a lot of surprises. Vienna made an upset of favorites and clinched the trophy in Paris. Let’s briefly go through the Paris Masters in the next paragraphs.
Cacak beat the competition in a qualifications draw. Bjelovar and Athens were also participating in qualifications.
Ub and Utrecht qualified for the elimination stage from pool A.
Liman and NY Harlem were the first-placed and second-placed teams in group B.
Vienna and Paris were the best squads in pool C and got tickets for the quarterfinals.
Princeton and Jeddah progressed to the best 8 from group D.
The quarterfinals were nerve-racking and they were played on Saturday.
Utrecht beat Paris with 19-15 in the first quarterfinal. NY Harlem beat Princeton with 21-19. Liman pulled out a 22-17 victory against Jeddah. Vienna surprisingly won against Ub with 21-12.
The semifinals gave also spectators tremendous enjoyment.
Utrecht pulled out a 21-19 victory over NY Harlem in a very equal game. Vienna beat Liman with 22-19 in the second semifinal.
A game that determined the champion of the Paris Masters was played between Utrecht and Vienna. Vienna won the game convincingly with 21-13. Vienna was constantly leading and their main star Stefan Stojacic was inspired. Here are highlights from the final game:
Stefan aka “Mr. Robot” scored an amazing 9 points and his colleague from the Austrian team Quincy Diggs contributed to the victory with 8. Worthy de Jong, Utrecht’s player, had 8 points on his account. It was not sufficient for victory, but Utrecht can be satisfied with this result.
Stojacic got the MVP award and he was the best scorer in the competition with unbelievable 50 points in 5 fixtures.
World Tour continues with Riyadh Masters on November 11-12.
