Ub won the Manila Masters!

After Masters in Utsunomiya, a tournament in Philippines was held last weekend in front of crazy fans. Many super-thrilling games were played in the second Masters of the season, but it could be only one winner. The champion of the second competition in the World Tour’s 12th edition is Serbian Ub. Let’s check briefly how Strahinja Stojacic and his teammates claimed another trophy.

A crowd in the Philippines proved again that they are one of the most passionate audiences on the planet. Games in the group stages were held on Saturday, 20th May, while fixtures in the elimination stage took place on Sunday.

Ub and Utsunomiya made it to the knockout stage from group A.

San Juan and Riga proceeded to the quarterfinals from pool B.

In group CFutian and Amsterdam earned cards for the Top 8 stage.

Beijing and Sansar qualified for the elimination stage from pool D.

In the first quarterfinal game, Ub pulled out a super-thrilling 21-20 victory over Amsterdam. Beijing defeated Riga with 21-13. San Juan beat Sansar with 21-15. Futian won against Utsunomiya with 21-17. 

Ub beat Beijing easily with 21-16 in the first semifinal game. 

Futian played an amazing game against San Juan and defeated them comfortably with 21-13.

The final fixture was played between Serbian Ub and Chinese Futian. Asian team was led by duo Thibaut Vervoort and Dimeo van Der Horst throughout the whole tournament.

However, Dejan Majstorovic and his colleagues had control of the game for first place since its beginning. All of Ub’s players were in a good mood, so the win was never in doubt. Finally, Ub pulled out a 21-17 victory and won another trophy in the 2023 campaign.

Strahinja Stojacic finished the final game with 6 points and earn the MVP award with 35 scored points during the tournament. Overall, the best scorer in the competition was Dimeo Van Der Horst with amazing 42 points on his account.

The next stop in the 2023 World Tour will be Marseille where the best 3×3 players will compete for the title between 30 June and 1 July.
