After months of unbelievable boredom, the new World Tour’s edition finally got underway last weekend. Fans got a chance to enjoy amazing games and the spectacular moves of their favorite players during the two previous days. Let’s dive deeply into the recapitulation of the competition held in the Japanese city Utsunomiya.
Pool fixtures were scheduled for Saturday, 29th April, while games in the elimination stages were supposed to be played on Sunday.
Ub and Sansaar proceeded to the Final 8 phase from group A.
Partizan and Raudondvaris got through the group stage from pool B.
In group C, Amsterdam and Utsunomiya got tickets for the elimination stage.
Vienna and Antwerp qualified for the quarterfinal in pool D.
In the first Top 8 fixture, Ub beat Utsunomiya with 21-14. Vienna pulled out a 21-16 victory over Raudondvaris. Antwerp defeated Partizan with 21-19. Sansaar beat Amsterdam with 20-18 after overtime.
Ub defeated Vienna with 21-16. Antwerp beat Sansaar with 13-10 in the second semifinal.
Ub and Antwerp were the two teams competing for the title in the Opening Masters. Dejan Majstorovic and Strahinja Stojacic, a deadly duo, were in a super mood against Belgians who played without Thibaut Vervoort for the first time in big competition.
It was an easy afternoon job for the Serbian team as they controlled the game, dictated the tempo of the fixture from its start, and steamrolled their opponent with 21-11. Clinching the trophy in Japan was the best way for defending champions to start a new campaign.

Strahinja Stojacic, Ub’s player, received the MVP award deservedly for his performances in the tournament. Additionally, Strahinja was the top scorer of the tournament with 39 scored points.
Champion and runner-up of Utsunomiya Masters qualified directly for the Marseille Masters, a third tournament in the 2023 World Tour.
