Big3 League wants to sell some teams

About the league: Fireball (another name for Big3) games are played on the half court in which teams battle to get 50 points on their account. One team must pull out a victory with at least two points difference, while the Big3 implemented a 14-second shot clock rule. The players on the court are former NBA or international stars which takes this event to a glamorous dimension.

The franchise model is widely popular in some big leagues like NBA, Major League Baseball, and NFL in the USA. However, leagues with smaller sizes own their clubs in the majority of cases. Recently, that trend began to change with ownership in Esports started to alter to a franchise concept.

Now, the Big3 league wants to transfer to that model of selling some of their 12 teams to exterior investors. This desire doesn’t surprise a lot because Ice Cube (co-owner and co-founder) is known as a guy who likes to adapt to current tendencies.

Fireball was also giving their fans a chance to participate in ownership permitting them to buy Big3 NFT crypto tokens. Tokens enabled those spectators the right to vote, VIP cards, and other privileges. Ice and Jeff believed it would increase engagement and make funds bigger.

Ice Cube look for more sponsorship deals after the league renewed sponsorship contracts with Microsoft and Monster Beverage last year. While management is seeking out new owners, the last Big3 campaign recorded growth of viewership by 14 percent year-over-year (YOY). Also, the final game was watched by more than one million spectators.

Big3, Ice Cube’s and Jeff Quatinetz’s project, evolved into serious competition attracting big attention from passionate fans all across the world. A lot of hype was raised over the teams and games in this competition, so commercial value became bigger. The previous five editions were super-thrilling and exciting until the very end, but owners clearly don’t want to stop with innovations.
