AmeriCup 2022 was held in Miami the previous weekend and spectators could witness great 3×3 basketball. The United States was a main favorite before the tournament and they confirmed the reputation with another gold.
In the women’s part of the draw, Canada lifted the trophy and for the first time became champion of the continent. Let’s preview shortly what happened in front of a wild crowd on this year’s AmeriCup.
In the men’s part of the draw, the United States and Brazil progressed from group A to the quarterfinals.
Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago were the first-placed and second-placed teams in pool B.
Canada and Mexico qualified from group C for the elimination stage.
Dominican Republic and Chile got tickets for the best 8 from pool D.
United States beat Mexico with 21-19 in the first quarterfinal. Trinidad and Tobago pulled out a 16-15 victory over Dominican Republic. Puerto Rico defeated Chile with 21-12. Brazil won against Canada with 16-13.
In the first semifinal, United States pulled out a 21-15 victory over Trinidad and Tobago. Puerto Rico won against Brazil with 21-15.
United States beat Puerto Rico in the final game with 21-18. Brazil defeated Trinidad and Tobago in the fixture for third place with 21-9.

Canyon Barry, United States player, got the Award for Most Valuable Player in the tournament.
Quarterfinals in women’s competition were no less exciting.
The United States pulled out 18-11 victory over Chile. Canada beat the Dominican Republic with 21-4. Brazil defeated Puerto Rico with 22-14. Colombia won against Jamaica with 17-9.
Canada beat United States with 17-15. Brazil defeated Colombia with 18-11 in the second semifinal.
Canada pulled out a 15-11 victory over Brazil in the game for the gold medal. The United States won against Colombia with 17-13 and got the bronze medal.
Michelle Plouffe, the Canadian lady, was the leading scorer in the final game and earned the tournament MVP award.
