Quarterfinals in challenger in Croatian Lipik are set to go

After an exciting challenger in Pristina and Antwerp’s victory, we are looking forward to seeing great teams in Croatia.  This tournament is a qualification competition for the fourth Masters of World Tour 2022 in Swiss Lausanne. There are many contenders for the title in Lipic, but it can be only one winner. Check the next rows to find more about this challenger.

Qualifications and games in groups A, B, C, and D were played on the first day of the tournament. Krupanj and Dusseldorf qualified for the group phase from qualification.

In group A, Liman beat Fribourg with 21-11. Fribourg then pulled out a 21-18 victory over Cebu. Liman won against Cebu with 21-8. Liman and Fribourg progressed to the quarterfinal.

In group B, Krupanj pulled out a 21-20 victory over Riga. Riga then won against Merksem with 21-17. Krupanj beat Merksem with 17-15. Krupanj and Riga go to the elimination phase.

In group C, Marijampole beat Sakiai with 21-7. Saitama won against Marijampole with 21-19. Saikai pulled out a 21-17 victory against Saitama. Marijampole and Saitama were first-placed and second-placed teams in the pool.

In group D, Ulaanbaatar won against Zagreb with 20-16. Ulaanbaatar pulled out a 21-15 victory over Dusseldorf. Dusseldorf beat Zagreb with 22-9. Ulaanbaatar and Dusseldorf will participate in the last 8.

Quarterfinals, finals, and games for third place will be played on Saturday.

In the quarterfinals, Liman will play against Saitama, Ulaanbaatar will face  Riga, Krupanj will have a clash against Dusseldorf, and Marijampole will be challenged by Fribourg.

The biggest favorites for the crown are Liman, Riga, and Sakiai Gulbele. We should not underestimate the potential of the vice-champion of the previous Challenger in Pristina- Fribourg. Ulaanbaatar can make big upset and shake the global scene one more time. Marijampole and Dusseldorf have shown in the previous tournament a lot of talents and don’t be shocked if they go all the way.

The winner and runner-up will take place in the Lausanne Masters on August 19-20.
