The tournament in Lipik is finished on Sunday and we got a new winner. There were fantastic clashes on the last day of the previous weekend and the spectators in Croatia had a really good time. Serbian team Liman from Novi Sad won the title and continued his great form ahead of the start of the third Masters in Prague next weekend.
The first quarterfinal was played between Liman and Saitama. Liman won against Saitama with 21-20. Liman was losing 19-16 against Japanese time, and then the warrior’s spirit of Serbian guys was revealed.
The second quarterfinal was held between Ulaanbaatar and Riga. Ulaanbaatar beat Riga with 21-15 and got a card for the final four in a comfortable manner.
The third game in Final 8 was between Krupanj and Dusseldorf. Dusseldorf defeated Krupanj with 20-16 and Krupanj can be satisfied with their overall performance in this competition.
Finally, the last game in the first elimination round was held between Marijampole and the vice-champion of the previous Challenger in Pristina – Fribourg. Fribourg pulled out a 20-15 victory over Marijampole and continued their good performances in the recent period.
We saw a clash between Liman and Ulaanbaatar in the first semifinal. Liman won against Ulaanbaatar with 18-10 and went to the final game easily.
The second semifinal was more exciting and it was played between Fribourg and Dusseldorf. Dusseldorf beat Fribourg with 21-20.
The final game between Dusseldorf and Liman in front of many supporters in sunny Croatia was pretty much one-sided. Liman defeated Dusseldorf with 21-10. German team showed good basketball in the first couple of minutes, but Liman soon took control of the game completely. Bastian Landgraf, Dusseldorf’s main star, scored a couple of baskets at the beginning, but he didn’t have teammates in a good mood. Liman had Mihailo Vasic above the rim and Nebojsa Kilijan who scored long-distance shots.
Mihailo Vasic got the Most Valuable Player(MVP) Award in Challenger in Lipik and he is the best scorer with 34 points.
Third-placed Ulaanbaatar and runner-up Dusseldorf won the tickets for the Lausanne Masters which will be held next month. Already qualified for Masters in Switzerland are Ub, Amsterdam, Jeddah, San Juan, and Partizan.
