Masters in Prague starts on Saturday

After the 3×3 World Cup and Asian Cup, we are waiting for the start of the third Masters in the 2022 World Tour. Last Masters was held on May, 28 and the audience is nervously expecting new clashes between the best teams in the world in this amazing sport. Great players will participate in the Czech Republic the next weekend and we believe that fact is enough for you to sit in your armchairs and watch impressive 3×3 basketball.

12 teams will participate in the main draw in Masters in Prague. There will be four groups of three teams.  One member of group A will be decided in qualifications on Saturday between Bielefeld, Omaha, and Tel-Aviv.

Saturday will be a day for games in group stages also. It is scheduled to be 12 fixtures in Pools A, B, C, and D. First two teams in the standings will go to the quarterfinals. Many teams are aiming to win the title in the Czech Republic, so let’s make a short preview of the groups.

Ub, Ostrava, and the already mentioned qualificant will be included in Group A. Ub won the first two Challengers in Utsunomiya and Manilla. World Champions like Dejan “Maestro” Majstorovic and Strahinja Stojacic are playing for Ub. Ostrava came from qualification and their young talent Martin Svoboda will try to impress one more time 3×3 audience.

Group B will consist of Liman, Warsaw, and Partizan . Serbian team Liman is in excellent form since they have a winning streak of 15 victories and lifted three trophies in a row. Stefan Kojic, one of their main stars, is returning to the big scene after a short absence. Warsaw, the Polish team, is relying on Przemyslaw Zamojski who can be a big asset for them in the hunt for the Final 8. Partizan surprisingly came to the final of Hamburg Challenger and they are looking to repeat good performances here.

Riga, Marijampole, and Hamburg will be included in pool C.  Riga has natural-born leader  Nauris Miezis in their squad as they are expecting big things in this tournament. Marijampole finished as runner-up at Poitiers Challenger. Hamburg also can be a dark horse in this competition as they reached the semifinals in the Hamburg challenger.

Group D is considered the strongest group in the Challenger.  Sakiai Gulbele, Ulaanbaatar, and Washington DC will compete for two places in the elimination phase. Sakiai Gulbele won the first challenger in Ulaanbaatar this season. They need Marius Uzupis to be on fire to win the trophy here. Ulaanbaatar can also be a threat and I would not miss mentioning Washington who won the  Poitiers challenger on their debut appearance.

All in all, the third Masters in 2022 is offering all the necessary ingredients for a great dish upcoming weekend. Stay tuned for the best 3×3 basketball can give, this time in the Czech Republic.
