Supporters are having a reason for joy because Challenger in the Mongolian city Sukhbaatar is starting on August 6, 2022. It’s the seventh official tournament of this type in this season’s calendar. Vienna, the Austrian club, is coming on the wave of victory in the previous Challenger held in Canada, Edmonton.
Qualifications for two spaces in the main draw will take place also on Saturday.
Six teams will be divided into two groups and each team played against every other team in the group. Zaisan, Minatomirai, and Saitama are included in group A. Zavkhan, Gandan, and Amgalan are in pool B. First-placed teams from both groups will qualify for the final tournament.
The group stage will be played on the same day. The procedure is the same as in previous competitions, there are four groups consisting of three teams. Two teams with the best ranking in each pool will proceed to the quarterfinals.
Liman, Danube, and the first qualifier are making group A. Antwerp, Sansar MMC Energy, and the second qualifier will compete in group B. Vienna, Vilnius, and Kedainai are playing in group C. Jeddah, Ulaanbaatar, and Utsunomiya will clash in last group D.
Quarterfinals, semifinals, and final game are set to be played on August 7, 2022.
Stefan Kojic is again in Liman’s squad and they are of course favorite to win the trophy in Mongolia. Stefan Stojacic and Filip Kramer, a dominant Vienna duo, are in fine form ahead Asian tournament and you should not be surprised if they make an upset. Thibaut Vervoort aka” Must see tv” is always ready to shake the global scene with his performance and his Antwerp is eager to return to winning ways.
Ulaanbaatar is representing the best chance for a local team to win the contest in Sukhbaatar. Mongolian team reached quarterfinal last weekend in Prague Masters. A “dark horse” in the upcoming weekend could be the Danube with their powerful player Bogdan Dragovic.
The reward for first and second place in Sukhbaatar Challenger is the ticket for Montreal Masters on September 3-4, 2002. Vienna is already qualified for Masters in Canada.
