After Sukhbaatar Challenger, another tournament of this type is ready to start. Quebec Challenger will be a qualifying tournament for Cebu Masters in the World Tour. The popularity of 3×3 basketball in Canada is growing rapidly and this will be a good opportunity for spectators to see some of their favorite basketball players. Here is a short description of what we can expect next weekend.
Qualifications for two spaces in the main draw will take place also on August 20, 2022. Six teams will be divided into two groups and each team played against every other team in the group. Santiago, Montreal, and Lidingö City are members of group A. Winnipeg, Old Montreal, and Washington DC are participating in pool B. First-placed teams from both groups will get a ticket for the final tournament.
The group games are set to be played also on Saturday. There are going to be four groups of three teams. The two best teams per pool will progress to the quarterfinals.
Riga, Omaha 3Ball, and the Lublin Lotto are participating in group A. Princeton, Hamburg, and Versailles are members of group B. Marijampole Manting, Beijing, and the first qualifier will clash in group C. Chicago, Warsaw Lotto, and the second qualifier will compete in last group D.
Quarterfinals, semifinals, and final game are scheduled for August 21, 2022.
Riga failed to reach the semifinal in three challengers and two Masters in 2022, but hopes to break that pattern with inspired Nauris Miezis, Olympic champion from 2021.
Princeton will be the biggest obstacle to Riga, according to 3×3 basketball experts. They have experienced members Robbie Hummel, Kareem Maddox, and Canyon Barry who won the gold for the USA in World Cup 2019.
Warsaw Lotto is the third favorite for the title in Quebec Challenger. It’s difficult to rule them out from the race for the best team, especially if we know that Przemyslaw Zamojski played for this team.
The first two teams will attend in Cebu Masters on October 1-2, 2022.
