Antwerp is a champion of Debrecen Masters!

Antwerp won the Masters in Hungary the previous weekend. They stopped the domination of Ub who lifted the trophy in the first four Masters in World Tour 2022. It was glamorous 3×3 basketball with a lot of superb actions, moves, and points. Those two teams played the final in a heated atmosphere in front of wild spectators.

UbFribourg, and Warsaw were members of group A.  Fribourg and Ub progressed to the quarterfinals.

Liman, Marijampole, and Tartu participated in pool B. Liman and Marijampole were first-placed and second-placed teams.

LausanneDebrecen, and Amsterdam competed in group C. Amsterdam and Lausanne got a ticket for Final 8.

AntwerpPrinceton, and London fought for the elimination phase in pool D. Princeton and Antwerp succeeded to qualify.

The quarterfinals, semifinals, and final game were scheduled for Sunday.

Ub pulled out a 21-15 victory over Lausanne in the first quarterfinal.  Marijampole defeated Princeton with 19-17. Antwerp beat Liman with 21-19.  Amsterdam won against Fribourg with 21-13.

Semifinals were super-thrilling for supporters of the four remaining teams in the draw.

Ub defeated Marijampole with 21-16.  Antwerp beat Amsterdam with 21-14.

The final game was played between Serbian Ub and Antwerp. Ub was having a slight advantage over the Belgian team throughout the majority of the game. In the final couple of minutes, Antwerp started leading and we came to an interesting finish of the game.

Thibaut Vervoort scored deciding two-point shot when the result was 20-20. Belgian star player brought Antwerp first- ever Masters. Strahinja Stojacic and teammates finished heartbroken and disappointed.

Thibaut Vervoort got the Award for MVP of the tournament. Thibaut was the best scorer of the final game with 9 points.In the individual competitions, Christophe Varidel won Shoot-Out Contest. Rafal “Lipek” Lipinski became the champion of the Dunk Contest.

The next Masters will be held in Montreal next weekend.
