Will Bynum, a guy who wants freedom on the court

What did his high-school career look like?

Taking part in Chicago’s Crane High School was the first step for Will toward the great basketball career he dreamed of. Scoring 22 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists per game led his Cougars and help them qualify for the Class AA Elite Eight.

Following that success, Bynum applied for playing college basketball at the University of Arizona by sending the National Letter of Intent.

Will’s senior year where he averaged 27 points, grabbing 6 rebounds and making 7 assists per game got him an all-city and Chicago Public Player of the Year honors.

What happened to Will in his college days?

After scoring 6.4 points and grabbing 1.5 rebounds per fixture in freshman year, Bynum represented Arizona in only 8 games before signing with Georgia Tech. Remaining of 2002/2003 season Will spent training and working on his condition.

The next 2003/2004 campaign was very important for the hero of our story since he wore Yellow Jacket’s shirt. in 30 fixtures averaging 9.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. Georgia Tech ended the season as National Runner Up with Will Bynum scoring a crucial basket for a win over Oklahoma State in the National Semifinal.

His involvement in ACC All-Tournament first team in 2004/2005 was only confirmation of the huge work he put in as his numbers improved to 12.5 points per game.

Where did the path take Bynum next?

Going undrafted in the NBA 2005 Draft was a massive disappointment for Will because he was putting a lot of effort into being fit and ready for the biggest challenges.

Boston found him interesting at that moment and signed Bynum for the 2005 NBA Summer League. Later that season, he was waived on October 25, 2005 by the Celtics without playing a single game for the team from Massachusetts.

What occurred with the player after disappointment in Boston?

After having a stint in NBA D-League and winning the Rookie of the Year Award with team Roanoke Dazzle, Will Bynum signed a contract with Roanoke’s parent team Golden State.  The Development league gives a chance to players to develop their skills in a hot atmosphere and highly competitive surrounding.

Bynum used that opportunity perfectly, so LeBron’s team offered him a short deal first. Following 15 fixtures in Warrior’s shirt, the hero of these paragraphs was waived on July 14, 2006. The average number of points he scored for the franchise from San Francisco was 3.6.

What was the next station in Bynum’s road to glory?

Consequentially, his appointment as MVP of the Finals of the Israelian league was not a surprise.

The next campaign was not so successful in the national league, but lifting the trophy in the national cup and reaching the final game of the Euroleague improved the impression of Maccabi’s fans. His 10.6 points per game during 24 games of the biggest European club competition were telling a lot about his contribution to the team.

What did Will decide to do after his adventure in Europe?

Following two seasons in Israel, the former Golden State Player decided to try his luck again in NBA in 2008.

The choice for this talented point guard was Detroit, a team from the center of the car industry.

Best Bynum’s season in Pistons was 2009/2010 where he went to score 10 points and make 4.5 assists per game. Amazing numbers didn’t continue in the same rhythm in the future, but the player ended up a period of 6 seasons in Motor City remembered as a great teammate and his professionalism was unbelievable.

What was his last destination in the most prestigious national league on the planet?

Bynum’s journey in NBA ended with a brief stint with a team from the capital of the USA –Washington. Near the end of the 2014/2015 campaign, Will put his signature on the contract with Wizards in an attempt to revive his fallen career.

Averaging 3.1 points per fixture throughout seven games was not sufficient for extending the contract with Washington Wizards. The player ended the short tenure with Washington at the end of the season, finishing with 2.6 assists and 9.6 minutes per game.

How did he start participation in the Big3 league?

After a short tenure with Washington, the next big thing for Will was taking part in the Big3 league. Ice Cube’s and Jeff Quatinetz’s project was attracting to Bynum as many former NBA stars were already playing there. The team Bivouac signed this ex-Golden State point guard who joined them in the 2019 Fireball season.

The teammates he got to play with were very interesting names like Josh Smith, Anthony MorrowShawne WilliamsCJ Leslie, and Dion Glover. Bivouac finished the Big3 third season with four wins and four losses not qualifying for the big Final Four.

Here are some of the best Will Bynum’s moves in the 2019 season:

How did Will Bynum react to disappointing 7th place in his first season?

Following his debut season in Big3, Will Bynum was eager to improve his performance and hoped also that the team result would be better. Bivouac’s fans expected a lot from the powerful trio of Josh Smith, and Marreese Speights in the 2021 season.

Unfortunately, the score of zero wins and six defeats was all this team could do in Fireball’s fourth campaign. Desperation continued for guys from Bivouac and even speedy layups and assists of Will didn’t help them finish in a better position in the standings.

Will is one of the best one-on-one players in the world and his anticipation of play is one of the biggest virtues he has.

Which result did Will achieve in his third season in Big3?

The freedom which Fireball provided to Bynum kept him in this league as he stayed a member of Bivouac for the 2022 campaign. Famous dunker Gerald Green joined the roster ahead of the start of the fifth Big3 season, while Nigerian star Ike Diogu also became part of the squad.

Bivouac was aiming to break the curse in the league and progress to the Final Four contest. Eventually, the competition was over for the team after six rounds and two recorded wins.

NBA experts consider his career didn’t reach the maximum point because of his too emotional approach to the game.

The dedication and commitment of Bynum are things that we be talked about for a long time in American basketball circles. “Thrill” was the nickname he got while performing for some of the best NBA teams. The level of excitement he caused in spectators with his layups and assists was unmeasurable.

His quickness and ability to pass with one move to the opposite player who guards him were miraculous. Is Will going to win the Big 3 in years to come? Is he going to do the thing he couldn’t do while playing in NBA? Many questions are appearing in the head of passionate fans, but the answer is one.
