Liman is a champion of the Sukhbaatar Challenger!

We witnessed fast-paced 3×3 basketball last weekend in Sukhbaatar Challenger. As we mentioned before, twelve teams were competing in the main draw of the tournament.  Liman, the Serbian team, won another Challenger and continued a 20-games win streak ahead of new challenges in the 2022 season.

It was Liman’s fourth title on Challengers this year in four competitions they have attended this season. Their 100% efficiency is a really impressive achievement and they are looking to lift the trophy finally in Masters in Lausanne this month.

Saturday was reserved for group stage games.

Liman and Danube progressed from Group A to the next phase. Antwerp and Sansar qualified from Pool B to the quarterfinal stage. Vienna and Kedainai were first-placed and second-placed teams in group C. Finally, Utsunomiya and Ulaanbaatar got a ticket for the Final 8 from the pool D.

Quarterfinals, semifinals, and final games were set to be played on Sunday.

Liman beat Kedainai with 16-13 in the first quarterfinal. Sansar won against Utsunomiya with 21-14 in the Asian clash. Ulaanbaatar defeated Antwerp with 13-12Vienna pulled out a 21-15 victory over the Danube in the last quarterfinal.

Liman won against Sansar with 21-11 in the first semifinal clash.  Vienna beat Ulaanbaatar with 21-14.

The final game didn’t miss exciting moments and good moves of players of both teams. Liman constantly had an advantage and Vienna tried to get close to them. Decisive moments happened when Liman was leading 16-13. The Serbian team put their foot on the gas pedal and convincingly ended the game. Liman pulled out a 20-16 victory over Vienna to clinch another trophy. Here are the highlights from that game:

Stefan Stojacic, Vienna’s main star, was the best scorer of the tournament with 32 points. Aleksandar Ratkov from Liman was the MVP of the competition. Austrian club already qualified for Montreal Masters which will be held on September 3-4, 2022. Liman from Novi Sad and Ulaanbaatar who finished in third place earned their tickets for the Masters in Canada.
