Fiver in 3×3 basketball audience is growing as we are expecting the beginning of the U23 World Cup 2022. Bucharest will host this main event on October 5-9. Russia was a winner in the man’s draw in the previous 2019 World Cup held in the Chinese city of Lanzhou.
The third edition of the U23 World Cup, an annual event,will be held in Romania. 20 teams will take part in the men’s tournament. They will be divided into four groups with five teams each. The teams are seeded according to 3×3 Federation Ranking. The two best countries from each pool qualify for the quarterfinal – the first elimination stage.
Mongolia will play with China, Latvia, Slovakia, and Chile in pool A. Mongolia is the main favorite of the tournament and group and all eyes are pointed on their star Altangerel Batsaikhan, an experienced Zaisan MMC Energy. The Mongolian national squad has a huge amount of talent.
Lithuania will compete with Japan, Romania, Egypt, and Chinese Taipei in group B. Lithuanian guys are the biggest obstacle for all teams in this pool. Lithuania, tournament’s seed No.2, has Eimantas Zilius on their roster. Zilius, the player from Kaunas, is promising big things on the 3×3 basketball world stage.
France has a tough job against Poland, Netherland, Ukraine, and Brazil in pool B. “Les Bleus” is No.3 seed in the competition and they are aiming for the title. Lorenzo Thirouard-Samson. This young talent caught the attention of fans already and he contributed to the fame of his country in the Nations League 2022.
Finally, group D members are Israel, Germany, Serbia, Qatar, and Kazakhstan. Israel is, according to experts, the strongest squad in the final pool. Their main hope is Shoham Gat who has already shown his potential at Nations League 2022. Now it’s for him to shine on an even bigger scene and bring Israel a gold medal.
