The second day of the World Cup passed and supporters could see interesting games and tremendous moves of certain players. Twenty games in pools B and C were played on Wednesday, ten per category. Especially expected were games in which Olympic Champions in men’s and women’s categories Latvia and Usa participated.
In the men’s part of the draw in group B Lithuania beat Mongolia with 21-15. Here you can watch the most important moments of the game:
Lithuania showed class again in the second game despite the fact they are not among the main favorites for the gold medal. Lithuania defeated Chile with 22-15.
Latvia, the other Soviet Republic, had an easy job in group C and didn’t spend a lot of time on the court. Latvia won against China with 22-6.
In their second game, Latvia beat Japan with 22-5. Nauris Miezis aka “the Maze” scored 19 points overall and he is the top scorer in the championship so far. You can see here the best moments in this superb performance of Latvia:
In the women’s competition, Usa defeated New Zealand with 19-14. Laura Cox and Cierra Burdick deserved the biggest praise for that win.
The second game was tougher for Usa women’s national squad. They won against Austria with 18-16. Hailey Van Lith and Ashley Jones contributed the most to this narrow victory. You can be reminded here of the best moments of that game:
In the same group B, France won against Brazil with 22-11. Here are the highlights of that game:
In their second game, France defeated New Zealand with 16-10. Two comfortable wins for Les Bleus with outstanding performances of Laetitia Guapo and Marie – Eve Paget.
We can conclude that we have witnessed a high-quality day in Antwerp and that things are slowly heating up. Tomorrow we can watch matches from pools A and D in the women’s and men’s competitions.
