Groups for the 2023 World Cup which will be held in the Austrian city Vienna were announced. Serbia and France, defending champions in the men’s and women’s categories, will have tough tasks to repeat successes from 2022 World Cup. As you know already, 20 teams per gender take part in this glamorous competition. Let’s see who will meet whom in the pool stage.
In the men’s part of a draw, Serbia will face France, Germany, Brazil, and Madagascar in group A. Serbia, led by experienced Dejan Majstorovic, is the favorite no.1 in the tournament as guys in white jerseys are even more coordinated on the court than last year.
USA, Latvia, Australia, Austria, and Slovenia will compete in pool B. USA, World Cup winner from 2019, is the second favorite to win the competition with players like Kareem Maddox and Canyon Barry. However, “the group of death” will be a hard challenge for them to overcome.
Lithuania, Belgium, Poland, Puerto Rico, and Israel are members of group C. Lithuania, the runner-up from the previous planetary championship, is aiming to win the first-ever title with Darius Tarvidas and Marijus Uzupis. However, Thibaut Vervoort is powerful player from Belgium and he is ready to make it hard for Lithuania.
Netherlands, Mongolia, Switzerland, Japan, and Hungary will participate in pool D. Netherlands, the runner-up from the 2022 Europe Cup, is very ambitious regarding the upcoming planetary championship since Dimeo Van Der Horst and former basketball star Worthy De Jong will lead the squad in a hunt for the gold medal.
France, Netherlands, Spain, Austria, and Brazil will participate in pool A in the women’s competition.
Germany, Japan, Poland, Egypt, and Australia will compete in group B.
USA, Canada, Mongolia, Hungary, and Czech Republic are having a contest in pool C.
Lithuania, China, Romania, Italy, and Israel are members of group D.
