Players were competing in Las Vegas last weekend for a chance to play in the BIG3 league season five. They showed out at indoor courts in Nevada in the hope of getting a place in a BIG3 roster. 64 players in total displayed their skills in a four hours marathon on May 14th. They were trying to impress captains and coaches of BIG3 teams. They have been waiting long for that opportunity to achieve their long time goals to be in a BIG3 squad. Ice Cube, co-founder of this extraordinary competition, warmly welcomed all guests and said that with commitment and dedication every player can expect his time to come. He also wished them to play hard and stay healthy ahead of future challenges. After that formal part and a couple of speeches, things started to heat up.
Players had done warm-up with easy running and stretching on the court and the atmosphere was getting exciting. Officials were measuring the speed and easiness of movement of the guys. Players slowly started shooting practice to get feeling in their hands for the next obstacles on a road to becoming a member of the Big3 league. Shooting drills were followed by One-on-one games in which we could see the fast decision-making of individuals. The games changed to two-on-two and their audience could see tactical and psychological abilities on display. Crowd could see how guys are opening space for each one, how movement and fast exchange of ball was making the possibility of open shots, and how players are patient in build-up play.
Then it was time for everyone has been waiting. The players were grouped into six teams and teams were playing in a round-robin format. The tournament didn’t miss intensity and explosiveness because every player wanted to prove that he deserves to play at the highest level. The regulations of the game were made to improve the space for showing the pure skills of players. We saw many team action, spectacular and fascinating moves, and dunks which made crowd go wild that day.
Combine were justified expectations and everything from strategy skills to purely technical skills were displayed in front of the eyes of an interested person. Everyone gave a maximum of their potential and the time ahead of us will show who deserves a place in the big 3 rosters. People who were present saw entertainment mixed with potentially valuable assets to their current teams. The excitement of spectators of this beautiful competition is rising as we all are impatient for the Big3 draft to take place on Thursday, May 26th.
