Alonzo Gee, Big3 multitalent

3×3 and classic basketball fans are full of emotions and look with smiles favorite teams and players they support. Enthusiastic fans are making participants on the court do crazy things like dunking, shooting from half of the court, etc.

One of these high-dynamic guys who is always having a smile on his face is Alonzo Gee. He takes seriously all tasks given by the coach before the match. The natural-born entertainer is giving himself into this game and the audience can recognize that moment vividly. Stay tuned for Alonzo Gee’s biography in the next couple of paragraphs.

How did Alonzo’s college career go?

After having a successful junior year at William T. Dwyer high school, Gee signed a National Letter of Intent to represent Alabama University on a college level. At Alabama is where Alonzo started to make name for himself, averaging 15 points and 7.2 rebounds in the 2008/2009 season.

His performances forced NBA experts to pay attention to him more carefully and closely, but Gee’s road to the most prestigious national basketball league didn’t start like a dream. Chance was not given to him until 2010 when Washington Wizards decided to sign a 10-day contract with him.

What did Gee’s time in Washington look like?

After making a deal with Washington, Alonzo Gee had a debut appearance that was nothing special. The hero of this story had 2 points and 2 rebounds on his account against Atlanta, followed by scoring 19 points in his first NBA start. However, the second 10-day contract with Wizards was the end of the club’s and Gee’s collaboration.

Alonzo got the status of free agent and signed the contract with San Antonio in something that promised to be a good deal for both sides.

Following only nine games in the new 2010/2011 season, Spurs waived him and sent players in the search of a new club. His total of 2 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks in five games played for the Spurs was not enough for their board, unfortunately.

What was the next point in Alonzo’s career?

After another disappointing stint with Washington, Cleveland became interested in Gee and agreed with him at the end of 2010. The break caused by the 2011 NBA lockout didn’t break Alonzo as he continued to work hard in preparation for the next challenges.

Cleveland realized how big a treasure they have in the roster, making Alonzo their player in a $10 million deal in September of 2012. Cavaliers spending on player relatively paid off for them with the player scoring 10.6 points per game in the 2012/2013 season.

Here is a Alonzo Gee top 10 plays:

Where did Gee continue his career?

After failing to make a big impact in Cleveland, Alonzo drew the interest of many clubs in the NBA ahead of the start of the 2014/2015 season. One of them was Denver Nuggets who found a defensively good player with athleticism and energy in him.

His best game came in a loss against Atlanta where he went to score 14 points, grab 3 rebounds, and record 3 steals. Despite hoping to play in the first line-up, Gee got a limited number of minutes on the court. The career in Nuggets didn’t turn out to be as expected, so the player and club parted ways.

What occurred with the player after a disappointing experience with Denver?

His development and growth in NBA were noticed by Portland, so the former Cleveland player was acquired by them on February 19, 2015. A lot of questions about Alonzo’s success in Blazers were asked due to his inconsistency and changing a lot of clubs during previous years.

Gee didn’t receive a proper opportunity from coach Terry Stotts despite a lot of players suffering injuries during the 2014/2015 season. Portland earned a ticket to the playoff with Alonzo averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Eventually, he failed to impress spectators as only 10.1 minutes per game were given to him.

How did Alonzo react to a short-term deal with Blazers?

After having a lot of struggles settling into one club, Gee agreed with New Orleans to represent them for the next two years. Alonzo joined the Pelicans before the beginning of the 2015/2016 season getting teammate Luke Babbitt who also played in Blazers.

In that season Alonzo Gee scored 4.5 points and made 3.4 rebounds per game. Following those 73 games in New Orleans shirt, the hero of our story suffered a complete rupture of one of the four quadriceps muscles separating him from the court for the remaining of the season.

Finally, the board of the Pelicans waived ex Portland shooting guard on October 24th, 2016.

What happened with Gee after parting ways with New Orleans?

Denver signed Alonzo for the second time in 2016 knowing that he has valuable seven years’ experience in NBA. His accommodation to Nuggets culture went faster having played for the team throughout 2014-2015.

However, an average number of points was smaller compared to the first season in this club scoring only 0.8 points per fixture. Defending is why they brought him into the team, but his abilities were not shown in that area of play.

How did the hero of our story start the Big 3 adventure?

After a turbulent road in NBA, Gee wanted to prove himself in the more dynamic rhythm of play. In June 2021, the Big 3 draft was held in a competition that was established already as a highly competitive contest with former NBA stars included in it.

Alonzo was picked by team Bivouac in round 1 with the eighth overall pick, while Julian Wright was chosen in the second round of the draft pool.

In the fourth game of the season, Gee registered 17 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and one steal and Bivouac lost the game against Three Headed Monsters with 51-48. Alonzo’s excellent performance came after his 6 points game in the previous round, so fans believed that his consistency is possible.

His team ended the season in disappointing 12th place in the Big3 standings at the end of the season with zero wins and six defeats. For sure, Gee’s poor ball handling is one of the things he was missing playing the wing position in the 2021 season.

How did Alonzo handle the pressure after the devastating first season in Fireball?

After having high expectations, Big3’s first season was devastating for Gee in terms of the team score. Alonzo Gee’s unbelievable athleticism was characteristic that certainly put him at the center of Triplets attention before the draft.

In the 2022 season Alonzo was part of a fantastic five which consisted of Joe JohnsonJannero Pargo, Jeremy Pargo, and Ryan Hollins, making Triplets one of the most deadly sides in the league.

Joe Johnson, the best player in the history of the league, retired in the middle of the season which was a massive blow for Lisa Lesley’s team. Triplets form dropped in the second half of the season, so they finished the season with a 2-4 score at 11th place.

There is no dilemma that the energy Alonzo brings to the squad is contagious and gives his teammates inspiration and motivation to do better on the court.

We can conclude that team with Alonzo Gee on the roster is stronger and more attractive for watching. His career tells more than words about that statement.

Will Alonzo Gee do in Big3 what he didn’t achieve in NBA? Win the trophy intended for the best team in the league? How big is that possibility? Give us your opinion about that question.
